The answers:

Q: How do I save a ringtone?

A: Once you have a ringtone that you like and can play it on the phone in the BlackBerry media player (has three large buttons), please roll to the third large button, push the thumbwheel and select 'save'. You can also press the menu button to the left of the trackball if you have one. You will be asked to confirm the name of the ringtone, and then you will need to select 'save', 'yes' or 'OK', depending on your model.

Now that you have the new ringtone saved locally, push the trackball-trackwheel and select the last menu item, which is called 'Close' in order to escape from the browser. You're now leaving our service and are now interacting with the BlackBerry's setup process.

In the main icon menu on the phone, select Profiles, then scroll down and select "Advanced". Select the currently active profile, push the trackball-trackwheel and select 'Edit' if you have to and then select "Phone". For 'in-holster' and 'out-of-holster' situations, you can define different ringtones. Just go to where the ringtone title is specified, push the trackball-trackwheel, select 'change option' and point to a new ringtone. When you wish to leave that settings screen, be sure to save the new changes when asked.

Q: How do I make it so that when a contact calls a specific ringtone is played?

A: Please go to the address book and choose the contact you want to add the ringtone to (example: John Smith). Please highlight the name via the trackball-trackwheel and press it to pull up a menu. Now, you'll need to highlight "Edit" and then select it by pressing the trackball-trackwheel. Now we'll be in the contact edit screen, please click the trackball-trackwheel again and look for an option titled "Add Custom Phone Tune". Please select that option which will add a new field at the bottom of the edit screen.

Once you have located the new "Add Custom Phone Tune" option, please scroll down to it and press the trackball-trackwheel. You'll see a list of ringtones, please find the ringtone you want to add to this contact and select it with the trackball-trackwheel. Now all you need to do is press the back key (located under the thumbwheel-to the right of the trackball) and save the changes. From now on whenever that contact calls you, you'll hear that ringtone.

Q: Is it possible to access the site from a computer then transfer the ringtones to the phone?

A: If you do not have a data plan with the phone or would prefer to download the tones to your computer you may access the site via the instructions you received when you purchased the product. If you have trouble locating the information you can always e-mail us at support@terratial.net and our customer support team will be happy to assist you.

Using the USB cable for linking the phone to the computer you'll need to connect the two. Once you have the phone's folder menu open in your computer, you'll need to save the tone to the phone by dragging the file from the computer to the SD card or phone's memory. Once you save the tone from the computer to the phone, you'll need to go to your "Profiles" folder on the main menu of the BlackBerry. Click the trackball on the item then select advanced to get to the profiles main menu.

Highlight your "active" profile from the list and click the menu button to the left of the trackball and you'll see an option to "Show Ringtones". Here you'll be able to highlight the desired ringtone and save it by clicking the menu button again and choosing the option "Set as Ringtone".

Q: How do I make my ringtones louder?

A: The BlackBerry can be somewhat deceptive with ringtone volumes when you are previewing them through the BlackBerry's browser. The real test is when you save a ringtone. Set your profile to "Normal" and then see if the volume is what you need.

Believe it or not, we're quite careful to ensure that we provide the maximum potential volume levels while avoiding any chance of hardware damage. If you still find that any of our titles lack desired volume, please don't hesitate to let us know, by stating the title of the ringtone and sending us an e-mail at support@terratial.net.
